Carla Gornall S3E158
Carla Gornall, a cofounder of TakeRoot Farm Stop in Omaha, has spent years working to connect local producers with local consumers, and in the show we explore food not just as commerce, but as relationship, connection, and a way of strengthening the life of a community.
TakeRoot Farm Stop in Omaha’s Dundee neighborhood is a year-round indoor market designed to connect local growers and makers with local shoppers. Gornall has a background in agriculture and public relations, and has worked to make healthy food more accessible. During the pandemic, she worked with @nomoremtpots sourcing weekly produce boxes and building relationships with dozens of regional farmers. TakeRoot’s mission extends beyond retail toward community nourishment, farmer sustainability, and public education around food, cooking, gardening, and local food systems.
